Jake Brake Vacuum Pump POD

Did your vacuum pump stop making vacuum? If the bearings are not noisy, you are probably better off keeping your OEM drive assembly and just replacing the vacuum pump POD. The great majority of the time, the only thing that goes wrong with the OEM pumps is that the rubber diaphragm in the POD section tears causing a low / no vacuum scenario. The OEM drive assemblies are more reliable than the aftermarket replacements, so for long term reliability and cost savings we recommend replacing just the POD where possible.

Replacing the POD is very easy, requiring only removing (4) 10mm head bolts. Please be aware that the drive assembly contains oil for lubrication. It is important not to lose that oil during the process of changing the POD. Just keep the POD up and the drive down to prevent the oil from running out. To make installing the POD easier you can rotate the pulley to put the cam that drives the POD at its lowest position so it is not pushing up on the POD. It takes only a few minutes to swap the vacuum pump POD.
