The last few years have seen some major changes in the PMD market. In response to these changes, Stanadyne has introduced their answer to the competition - the "Bullet Proof" PMD. Following are a few of the upgrades that have been implemented: - Internal electrical components with a higher temperature rating
- Softer potting compound to reduce thermally induced stress
- Steel compression spacers in the mounting holes to provide for more consistent mounting torque
- Loctite on transistor mounting screws to maintain torque and assure heat transfer
- Gold plated terminal pins - reduce the possibility of fretting corrosion caused by vibration . The effect is to reduce the number of complaints stemming from a poor electrical connection at the PMD.
- New mounting screws and improved heat transfer pad are also included.
PLUS..... the bullet-proof PMD is covered by a 2 year warranty from the manufacturer! Some notes on PMD Failure...... - Replacing your PMD may solve many stalling, hard starting and hesitation problems which may be accompanied by codes 35/36 on 1995 and older models, or 1216 on 1996 and newer models. If your truck shuts off like someone reached over and turned off the key, you probably need a new PMD!
